Something in stderr of the result, in stderr.txt in the slots directory or (with newer clients) in the stderr section of client_state.xml?

Sounds like the App can't make proper (shared memory-) contact with the Core Client and thus thinks it's running in standalone mode.

Maybe check the permissions of the account (regarding shared memory) or try a different client version.
