For what it's worth, there has been NO CHANGE to the Einstein@Home application in this time. So what has happened is that for some reason the BOINC core client or the BOINC manager are burning up lots of CPU cycles on your machine. You might try using Task Manager to see whether it is the Client or the Manager that is doing this.
