It's a bit more difficult than that.

The current handling of non-ASCII characters in BOINC is neither elaborated nor consistent. What's missing is a concept to start with that then needs to be implemented in all parts of BOINC (Client, manager, web interface, graphics API etc.). Just "fixing" one graphics App won't help much. We are discussing this on the BOINC dev mailing list.
