You can do both of these things. To force an upload, click on the "Transfers" tab. Right click on each of the work units waiting to upload and then left click "Retry"

To force a project update click the "Projects" tab. Right click on E@H then left click the "Update" selection.

After you have done that, and BOINC has finished it's uploading & updating, click on the "File" drop menu. Select "Disable BOINC network access". Now BOINC will happily crunch away until it runs out of work. When you are back at home simply connect to the internet, then unselect the "Disable BOINC network access" and the client will connect & do what it needs to do!

My pleasure, wouldn't want to lose good people to frustration. By the way you can also set how many work units it keeps on hand. Go to your account on the website. Edit your general preferences. You can change the setting for about how often you will connect. The higher you set it the more work BOINC will keep in the que. (Max is set at 8 per day for now.)
