Neither Einstein@Home nor BOINC uses a database on the client side. all communication is done via the usual http(80) port.

IPChains for MySQL (Linux)

This port is used for communication between the client and the boincmgr gui (some third party tools use that, too). You will need this only with an experimental client and (probably, if not managing a cluster etc.) only on the localhost (127.0.0.1) interface - if at all.
