A new Beta Test App is available on our usual Beta Test Page.

It features some more hand-crafted assembler code and a slightly modified (hopefully improved) CPU detection.

I've seen very large variations regarding the speed compared to the 4.01 App depending on the CPU type, so if you report speed values here, please also report the CPU.

Happy tessting!

LINUX Beta Test App 4.16 available

why does now the linux-version that already was faster than the windows version get improvements but the windows version doesnt?

We are testing this code on Linux first (this time), but the improvements will go into all x86-based Apps.

An empty stderr is definitely

An empty stderr is definitely not correct. Also too, a validate error is worse than just an invalid result, it means that the result returned is not even syntactically correct - in your case I wouldn't be surprised if your machine had simply sent back an empty file. I don't know what's wrong, but I suggest you stop the client, remove the app_info.xml and start it again to switch back to the official App (you may want to set "no new work" and finish current work first to avoid client errors), and see if the probem persists.

Which is the meaning of "small x" in a result report?

It's a bit complicted to describe what it means mathematically, but this is written when a special case is called in the program. I knew that this would occur very rarely, but I wanted to see how often it actually happens in the "real world" to see if it's worth to optimize that part of the code, too.

I actually was a bit

I actually was a bit disappointed of the speed improvement of this App. Please try out the new 4.17.

I thought the credit is still fixed?

the granted credit is fixed, but only recent core clients will lead to the correct claimed credit. The first machine is running an old 4.19 client.

For people who think the 4.16

For people who think the 4.16 runs faster on their machines than the 4.17 App I put a link to the 4.16 on our Power User Apps page. Note that this is the original Beta Test package, so if you intall the app_info.xml, all work already assigned to the 4.17 will end up with a client error.
